Relationship Marketing and Ethical Standards

Relationship Marketing and Ethical Standards

The relationship between businesses is increasingly critical to B2B marketing. You have discovered that the focus of marketing in a B2B market is somewhat different in more consumer-oriented markets. Exactly how the relationship between the customer and the buyer develops and is maintained can be of critical importance to a firm trying to be competitive in the marketplace. Firms who wish to stay competitive in a global marketing environment must pay special attention to the perceptions and culture of the segments that they serve.

  • Review the Corstjens article
  • Who benefits more from loyalty programs? Are both parties benefiting equally in the relationship, and if so, how? Why is a mutually beneficial relationship between buyer and seller important to a successful marketing practice? What other strategies might you use as a marketer to strengthen the relationship between you and your customers? Provide a rationale for why you would select these strategies.
  • How would a marketing manager or management team overcome the typical difficulties faced in trying to ensure ethical standards? Identify a potential ethical issue related to relationship marketing, and provide an example of an ethical solution for this dilemma. Explain your reasoning.

Developing a Marketing Strategy

Developing a Marketing Strategy

As a marketing professional, you will likely be involved in the development of both marketing strategies and marketing plans. It is important to have an understanding of what differentiates these terms.

A marketing strategy is an explanation of the goals you need to achieve through your marketing, which is shaped by your business goals. By contrast, a marketing plan is how you are going to achieve your marketing goals. Your marketing strategy serves as a road map that will guide you from one point to another within your marketing plan. In other words, the strategy is the thinking (the “what”) and the plan is the doing (the “how”).

The purpose of your marketing strategy should be to identify and communicate the benefits of your business offering to your target market.

For example, if your business objective is to gain broader market adoption, your marketing strategy might be to introduce into new market segments, and your marketing plan might be to develop a marketing campaign that reaches out, identifies with, and focuses on a specific segment.

Week 5: Writing for your Discipline

Week 5: Writing for your Discipline

For this week’s assignment you will need to locate three sources on a topic of your choice and write a 3-page paper, double-spaced. The goal of this assignment is to demonstrate your ability to:

  • synthesize information from multiple sources
  • locate peer-reviewed resources using the library databases https://lib.fit.edu/
  • put together a well-organized and edited paper
  • properly cite sources in APA format
  • write for your discipline using formal language

Sources:

For this paper you should include two journal articles from peer-reviewed sources from https://lib.fit.edu/ and one electronic source. Remember the exercises we did in Week 1 and apply this knowledge when choosing an electronic source (credible and reliable).

Be Sure to:

  • Start each paragraph with a sentence or phrase that informs the reader of the topic.
  • Clearly indicate which material comes from which source. Use lead-in phrases (According to Smith (2004)….) and in-text citations.
  • Show similarities and/or differences between the different sources in ways that make the paper as informative as possible.
  • Represent texts fairly. Remember, just because you are restating information in your own words, does not mean you are in anyway changing what the source says.
