Component 01 Individual Reflective Report

During your Advance Practice you will have developed a number of skills and will have experienced a number of emotions. This component gives you the opportunity to reflect, analyse and propose future actions as a result of your experiences during this module in order to enhance your ability to become a reflective practitioner.

The Individual Reflective Report must demonstrate a critical and analytic thought process, a clear line of argument, and the use of evidence through examples of personal experiences, thoughts, and possibly theoretical literature. It must also contain the following 4 Rs of Reflective Writing:

Reporting and Responding – Describe your experience, report what happened. Why is it relevant? Respond to your experiences with observations or expressing your opinion

Relating – Draw a relationship between your experiences during the project and past experiences or modules/concepts/theories. Make a connection between how your skills, past professional experiences or discipline knowledge helped you during the project. Did you have the skills and knowledge to deal with task?

Reasoning – Rationalise your experiences and make sense of the experiences through theory, ethical, social or political factors. 

Reconstructing – Develop a plan to change your future actions/behaviours and to develop gaps in your skills. How would I deal with this next time?

You are the controller of a public Fortune 500 airline, TransGlobal Airlines. The airline utilizes a fleet of corporate jets for private charter by Fortune 500 clients at several major airports. The company is looking to acquire smaller aviation firms as part of an overall growth strategy. 
In addition to creating an acquisition proposal, the CFO has asked you to create a report recommending a few performance-improvement strategies so that the company will meet your overall sustainability goals.


Create a report to recommend performance-improvement strategies that will help TransGlobal Airlines be more sustainable. Specifically, you must address the following criteria:

  1. Use the document to identify a strategic goal for the companys sustainability practices.
    • Based on your understanding and research about sustainability objectives and practices, where do you envision the company will be in 10 years with respect to its sustainability measures?
  2. Identify a KPI and corresponding target measures for the sustainability goal identified.

Perform research on RFID technology and its application to the healthcare industry. Mary Jones is the health information supervisor at Somewhere Home Care, which is Medicare-certified. As required by Medicare, her agency and staff members have been completing and submitting OASIS-C1 data. The staff has been accessing patient data through the OASIS-C1 reports, as well as monitoring and documenting visit patterns and frequency by the agency. In addition, the personnel have been monitoring the cost of supplies utilized per patient. In reviewing the financial data, Marys director has indicated that the agency has performed marginally un-der the Medicare prospective payment system. The staff would like to improve financial performance and has met with the leadership team of the agency to discuss a possible plan of action. Although some insurers still pay by the visit, Medicare patients are the largest group in the agencys payer mix, and Medicare pays a set amount of money for providing care over a 60-day period rather than a per-visit fee. Mary has some statistics available to her to assist the director with formulating a plan. These include:

        The number of patients the agency has had in each HHRG classification over the past 3 years.

        The number of visits (by clinician type, i.e., RN, LPN, HHA, PT, OT, SLP) made to each patient for each 60-day episode of care.

        The average number of visits to patients in each HHRG classification

        Financial data, including reimbursement amounts for each HHRG and the agency-specific costs per each type of visit.

        Primary diagnosis for each patient

        OASIS C1 outcome reports printed for OBQI/OBQM, showing how the agency has performed in outcomes, compared to other agencies in the country.

        Payers mix report, showing the percentage of patients the agency has in each payer source (i.e., Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, private pay, etc.). At Somewhere Home Care, 65% of the patients are covered by Medicare.

Investigation into care plans and visit patterns indicate wide fluctuation in visit patterns among clinicians. Patients within the same HHRG categorywho basically should be similarhave widely varying visit ranges. Based on the above information and scenario, answer the following questions:
